WHAT
OTHERS SAY

Thank you for your kind
advice and the information about how to order your
book on RSI. I'd like to thank you for all your
research and time you have spent to help other
"hurting" interpreters.
Connie from Minnesota
I was waiting to respond to your request [for a
recommendation] until Ruth came to speak to my
Repetitive Strain Injury group, which she did last
night. This was her second presentation to us, the
first being three years ago when her book was
published.
Ruth is extremely knowledgeable about these problems,
both through her own life experiences and through her
research. She embellishes her presentation with her
own stories, which people respond to very positively.
She speaks well, clearly and assertively.
I hope this is helpful to you as you consider hiring
Ruth's services for your school district.
Sincerely,
Susan Nobel, MSW Mt.Sinai Medical Center
Dear Ms. Saxum:
I chaired a workshop event presented here in the
Capital Region by Ruth Aleskovsky several months ago.
The day was attended by 10 interpreters, 8 members of
the Capital Region Interpreter Network and 2 people
who came in from outside the area.
Response was uniformly very positive. Participants
felt that they received a lot of new information about
RSI and self care. Many of our misconceptions were
corrected and attention was called to habits and
behaviors that most of us had not realized were
dangerous. As an educational event it was certainly a
success.
I should also mention that the tone of the day--Ruth's
manner, her willingness to share her personal story,
the atmosphere of collegiality and caring--created an
experience that was not only informative but also
emotionally restorative and healing. We were reminded
to value ourselves as professionals and human beings
and to care for ourselves accordingly. This, as you
know, is something that all too frequently falls by
the wayside as we struggle to meet the many demands of
our profession.
I'm sure I speak for everyone who attended the CRIN
workshop when I say that Ruth deserves our highest
recommendation.
Best,
Karen Weeden
